Happy 2nd Birthday Cale!!

I love how this cake turned out! Last year I made his radio flyer wagon cake and didn't know how I'd top it but ... this goldfish was pretty cute! Goldfish was the theme of the party---I didn't know "Goldfish" crackers had so many varieties. Cheese-Pretzels-Multi-colored-Whole Grain-Pizza-Sour Cream and Onion-Honey-Cinnamon-and Saltines---We had a few of those varieties but my favorite one was the saltines because we had soup at the party---

I also made tye-died cupcakes...they turned out really well and were also fun to make.

As party favors everyone got to take home live goldfish!! Cale literally couldn't keep his face out of the bowl. He kept wanting to see the "fishies"

This birthday was also a little more fun in the gift department...he seemed to enjoy unwrapping things. But like every kid as soon as he'd open a present he'd want to play with and not move on to unwrapping the next gift.

I also had to go back to work this past week--which is never easy but this time it was probably easier on me than Brent! Brent takes the boys to my grandma's house in the mornings--I try t o make everything as easy as I can for him--I had the diaper bag packed--bottles ready--clothes laid out---I couldn't have done anything more! He claims he looked for the bottles for 35 minutes-(they were in the refrigerator in a bottle bag!!!)--finally just taking frozen milk out of the freezer to take. He took Cale and some of the luggage out to the truck--He left Cale in the truck--unbuckled--needless to say Brent was locked out when he returned---After convincing Cale to unlock the door he finished loading Hayden and the rest of the baggage that goes with 2 kids--As soon as he pulls into my grandma's house Cale vomits in his car seat! By the time they get that all cleaned up and everything inside I'm there for lunch! Brent tells me about the frozen milk in the bag and tells me to put it in the freezer--I get it out.....it's pureed cauliflower that I'd been adding to his mashed potatoes for the last few weeks!! Needless to say my first day back was harder on Brent than me!!!

Major catching up....

Last weekend my entire family went on a cruise! We had a blast! The only down fall was that Hayden and Kohen didn't get to go along=( We learned during the booking process that a child has to be at least six months old to go on a cruise. I hated to leave Hayden at home but my brothers told it was only for four days and to suck it up! Easier said than done- We went to Key West and Cozumel--Had nice weather at both---our "day at sea" however was windy--causing it to be a little cool--but overall the kids loved it and it was great for the guys to get away from the farm!

Cale and I one night before dinner on the boat--I don't know that the kids realized they were on an actual boat---it was so big.. I think that concept was hard for them to grasp.

It was a little too late in the evening and a little too cold to go out and build a snowman so we brought the snow in!!! Kara, Nellie, Cale, and I built a small snowman inside---Cale and Nellie were busy eating the snow and the M&M's that were supposed to be decorating his belly!

The finished product! Cupcake liner for a hat-pretzels for arms-M&M's for buttons-chocolate chips for eyes-and a carrot for his nose!

Before Christmas at our old house---another obsession...these rubber boots! He thinks he needs to wear them everywhere----the problem is they are literally 3 sizes too big! This picture was taken one of the last nights at our old house--We have sold it and are temporarily living with my brother Scott and his family in their basement--We call it our "studio" apt. We have our own kitchen-bathroom-living area-a room for the boys and our bed is in the back of the living area--it's really working out great--We have a few more things to narrow down and then we'll begin building in early spring!

Hayden and Cale---I couldn't believe it--Cale sat on his little couch watched the entire NC-vs-UE basketball game and never moved---He also thought Hayden needed to sit with--Anytime Hayden would fuss I'd pick him up and that made Cale so mad because he wanted Hayden to sit with him not me!

I'm dreading Monday as it rolls around it's my first day back to work! Time has went so fast and Hayden has grown so much! He still has a ton of dark hair but showing a few thin spot in the back! Cale continues to be a great big brother!

Trauma Drama

Cale has had SEVERAL bumps-bruises-scratches-and scrapes----but he finally gave me a big scare! Hayden and I were outside on the front porch while Cale was playing with his Jeep powerwheels---he was standing on the seat and I told him to sit down but at about that time he fell out of the Jeep onto the rocks in the driveway----believe me when I say Cale is all boy and has definately been "roughed up" so most of the time he's pretty tough--but after he fell he screamed bloody murder--I was right there in literally 5 secs and when I got there the neck of his shirt was soaked in blood---panic set in----a newborn in one arm and Cale in the other--we ran inside to assess the situation--it wasn't a very big cut at all but it just kept bleeding---Brent wanted to stick a bandaid on it! I quickly respond that you couldn't do that so this is what Brent came up with......Rambo Jr

Needless to say it traumatized me way more than Cale---After we got inside he asked for a popsicle and once he got that the tears stopped.

As for Hayden he is doing great---5 wks old now and he is really filling out--he kind of has his days and nights a little mixed up right now but hopefully that's short lived. I don't think he's lost a strand of hair--someone made the comment " look at all that hair-you get to comb it" I responded by saying "no we HAVE to comb it!"

I honestly couldn't ask that Cale be any better with him--He's all lovey dovey with him---anytime I lay Hayden on the floor Cale is right beside him--we even caught him getting a wipe out of the box, wiping Hayden's nose and trying to give him the pacifier--he is super sweet to him!

It's a BOY!!!

I'm pretty sure I ended the last post with the comment that things are "quickly" changing in our lives! That could not be anymore true!! Hayden Williams Baker has officially arrived and he arrived in a flash! He was born on Wed evening--October 27-- at 9:31 pm---I had been having contractions throughout the day at work but nothing terrible--I even took supper to my parents house that night--my water broke at 8:00 pm and I was determined to take a shower--after all Brent was still farming! I hopped in and out of the shower and probably had to wait 5 min on Brent--we quickly stopped at our house to grab the bag and of course the camera! At this point the contractions were getting a little more ferocious! As we checked in at the hospital it dawned on me and I already knew in the back of my mind I was too late for an epidural but there was still hope right? We got to the delivery room and I was already between 8/9 cm---the nurse confirmed that I would not be recieving an epidural or anything for that matter--we didn't even have time to put in an IV! But shortly Dr.Baker arrived and with in a few pushes Hayden was here! I have to say my nurses were wonderful!! They were so calm and collected and that for sure kept me calm! Later Brent told me he thought he would have to apologize to the nurses later because he thought my temper was going to blow after being told no drugs!! He said my eyes were the biggest he had ever seen them!

Cale is wonderful with him! We just have to really watch him because he loves to point out his eyes-hair-nose-mouth----and he can be a little rough! But he loves to get up in his face and talk or kiss him!

Maybe a little on the crazy side???

A couple weeks ago the office had shut down and we were off for our fall vacation--at this point I had 4 wks left to go with the pregnancy but still feeling great. I had always wanted to go to the east coast but we knew me being so close to my due date was pushing it...but after everything checking out A-okay at my drs. appt we(myself, Cale, my mom, my sister, and my grandma---nope not even my husband!) decided just to pack up and head east--First off we hit Niagra Falls--which was beautiful--weather was in the 70's--definately recomend a passport though just so you can see if from the Canadian side.

After checking out Niagra Falls we traveled on through New York which was vineyard after vineyard--something that you don't see in Indiana everyday. Then moved on through Pennsylvania--didn't really see a whole lot of the Amish community there though--cut the corner through New Hampshire and on up to Maine.--It was so beautiful there this time of year--the colors of the trees were so brite--I don't feel like the pictures do it justice.

After leaving Maine we took a different route back home---went south through Conneticut-New Jersey-totally 6 new states that I had never been in---if you didn't know my goal is to go to all fifty states---I've been to several, but still have several to go---but I can't tell you if you ever get the chance to go to the east coast in the fall it will be well worth it! We had a great time---at some points we laughed so hard at each other I thought for sure I'd go into labor! Cale was a trooper--he traveled great---very rarely did he fuss and I can't tell you how many times we heard him say "honk honk" everytime he'd see a semi!! We had a great trip---but not only to travel this far with only 4 weeks left--Brent and I did a lot of phone communicating because we sold our house while I was gone!!! So now I'm only 2 weeks away from my due date and will soon be homeless!! People are thinking Brent and I have lost our minds--but we seem to be the only two people who aren't concerned about what's to come--I'm glad we are pretty laid back people! The plan is to build so we've been looking at plans and such--but we didn't want to plan a whole lot before our house had sold so now our plates are full! We both know things will work out just fine though!

I only have 2 weeks left until my due date...so soon I'll have any exciting new post about our new addition---things are changing very quickly in our lives!

"D" day has arrived

No No No---Baby #2 hasn't arrived... I finally gave in and allowed for Cale to get his first haircut at 20 mths old. Ryan told me that if I hadn't gotten it cut by Oct 1-that he was going to be cutting it himself---well Friday the 1st arrived and Ryan didn't forget--but with them farming he was a little too busy--he warned me on Sunday the 3rd that our normal Sunday family lunch would also include Cale's haircut. So I came prepared with the video camera and camera in hand. Sure enough after lunch everyone but me was ready to get his hair cut. And of course Mimi cut his hair.

We went for a combine ride on friday--Cale was interested in everything---wanting to check out every corner of the cab--he was sitting on the floor, propped up on my legs and I soon felt him getting heavier and heavier---next thing I know he is zonked out. Nothing like napping on the dirty combine floor--but why should I be surprised, this is the child who fell asleep on the floor of an airplane!

Picture Update

Here are a few picture updates of Cale. We have spent the majority our time outside playing this summer. I dread winter for fear that Cale will still want to go outside and play and I do not function well in cold weather and especially with a new baby on the way. I have between 6-7 wks left--it has went by sooo fast. Everything is right on track ..measuring is right on and heart rate is good---We're getting anxious to meet this little boy-or-girl. Cale is really good around my nephew Kohen--he is really curious about him, but I also realize that we don't take Kohen home with us or have to share our toys with him. I'm still hoping that Cale will adjust well.

I can't remember exactly what got him so upset--I think his wagon flipped over and he couldn't get it flipped back over.

When the boys started harvesting this fall we emptied the sandbox and filled it up with corn instead! The kids love it! The downside is that I'm pretty sure my parents will have corn sprouting in their front yard!
